Synergy Sports Medicine was born out of one question: "Why are motivated patients, after years of 'traditional' rehab methods, unable to get better?"

Dr. Raza Awan wasn't satisfied with the idea that some patients get better while others simply don't. After years of exploring different treatments on himself and his patients, he noticed a common thread: lack of good movement instruction was holding his patients back from complete recovery. 

When Dr. Awan began to incorporate the practices of Pilates teacher, Riki Richter, he immediately saw great improvement in his own condition, as well as the recovery of his patients.

In 2011, Dr. Raza Awan and Riki Richter joined forces and opened Synergy Sports Medicine where they created a new, comprehensive, interdisciplinary approach that unifies movement therapy with clinical treatment: Movement-Based Rehabilitation. Dr. Awan tracked common deficits found with his patients and Riki Richter programmed exercises based on these common deficits and created Synergy Movement Therapy.Movement- Based Rehabilitation (MBR) combines Pilates and specialized, exercise-based rehab classes with sports medicine. MBR changes the way patients heal because it changes the way they move. MBR builds body awareness and it reduces the chance of recurring injuries.

 

Synergy Neck & Shoulder 4 Week Program

A program specific to upper body issues perfect for the participant with neck tension, tension headaches, rotator cuff injuries, forward head posture, cervical spine problems and TMJ.

This course is taught by Riki Richter, Synergy Movement Therapy Director and Osteopathic Manual Practitioner. The exercises are demonstrated by Lolli Ursomarzo, Synergy Movement Therapist. 

This course is designed to follow the exercise videos week by week. For instance during Week 1 do only the Week 1 exercise videos and during Week 2 do only the Week 2 exercise videos until you reach Week 4. We recommend that you repeat this 4 week course for maximum results.

We also recommend that you attend the Synergy Neck & Shoulder Program in person if possible. We realize this may not always be possible. Another option is to book a 1-on-1 private session with one of our Synergy Movement Therapists to review the exercises that you have been performing at home.
